
Toolbelt Material Creator
Creating Revit materials made simple.
Navigate to The Toolbelt tab in Revit
Once successfully installed, a Toolbelt tab will be added to your Revit ribbon. Under the Toolbelt tab you will find the Material Creator.
Launch the material creation interface
By clicking on the Creator button with the brush icon.
A. Enter material name
To keep things organized and easy to reference, the material name is split into three fields.
A one word abbreviation of the project name.
The material type, this could be anything from wood, flooring, stone…etc.
Material style can be a one word descriptor such as the color or size of the material.
B. Select your material color
The material color will be applied to both the Graphics and the Appearance colors in the Revit Material Manager properties.
Once the color is selected, the button will change its color to the chosen one for preview.
C. Set Transparency and Glossiness
These two sliders allow you to set the Appearance parameters of Transparency and Glossiness.
The transparency slider will update the material opacity and apply it to both the Graphics and Appearance tab properties. 0 means full opacity.
A glossiness value of 0 means the material has a fully matte surface.
D. Select your texture images
This column allows you to select both the diffuse and normal maps for your material (if any). In addition, it allows you to set the scale of and rotation of that image when applied to geometry.
The scale of your material. this will be applied to the Scale and Size properties of your material image.
The rotation of the image when applied to a geometry.
The diffuse image of your material. Highly recommended to use an image that has a 1:1 proportion.
The normal or bump image of your material.
E. Create the material!
Once all in, you can create your material by clicking on the check mark button to submit!
What happens next?
Once your material is created you can access it from the native Revit Material Manager.
The highlighted properties are the ones that were assigned by the Toolbelt Material Creator.
The Texture Width property from the Toolbelt Material Editor is assigned to the Scale property in the Revit Material Manager.
